Several years ago I got a really good deal in a seed catalogue for 6 or 8 thornless blackberry plants. I was so excited. Blackberries grow like weeds where I live, and I could go find a patch anywhere and pick them.
But I usually need a body glove and a tetanus shot. The thorns are horrible. For sure, there is no way I would take the kids. I jumped on this deal when I saw it and planted the 2 foot tall things in my backyard.

We are on our fourth or fifth growing season with them. They are well over our heads, and this summer will definitely be the first to product some serious fruit. I picked my first bowl yesterday, and as you can see by the branches, there will be many more bowls to come.
