You know, that one that all of us have eventually once our kids hit a certain age. It encapsulates the essence of how much we love each other as well as each person's personality. Don't remember? Oh, here I'll repeat ours to you.....
My husband has just allowed the kids to have two pieces of candy. I reach for candy, and my four year old starts.
BH: Mom, you can have two pieces of candy.
Me: Oh, really?
BH: Yes, that is what daddy says.
JM: Mom, are you going to watch the movie with us?
Me: No, I am going to search for your soccer shorts so we don't have a meltdown tomorrow morning before the game. (I am referring to my manic breakdown that happens when I am supposed to find things I haven't worn or used.)
JM: Mom, I love you.
(If you know my 8 year old, you have just muttered in your brain, "brown noser".)
Me: Remember that when you tell me you hate me.
BH: Mom, I love you!
(If you know my four year old, you don't mutter it "brown noser". It is understood to be true always. No stating the obvious here.)
JM: Brown noser.....
