How to describe sixteen years? Hard, fun, happy, sad, broke, sacrificial, lonely, fulfilled, hopeful, ecstatic, emotional, up, down, close, distant, separate, intimate. It's been wonderful, yet I would by lying if I said it's been all easy.
I would like to thank my husband for hanging in there with me, seriously. I am not the easiest person to be around, and yet, I couldn't do this whole family thing without him.
I would like to thank God. Without Him, I would have no example of what sacrificial love is. What it means to lay myself aside and sacrifice for someone else. I don't do a good job of it at all, but I do have an example to look at. Thank you, Lord Jesus.
Now, what did we do?! We did something we have wanted to do for awhile, but haven't done. It was our Plan B for the evening, but forget Plan A.
We had a delightful evening taking a dinner cruise down the Columbia River on the historic Columbia Gorge Sternwheeler. It is an actual sternwheeler boat, fully powered by only the paddles on the back. It was only $68 a person! We had sea food and steak for dinner, along with appetizers, salad and a dessert. Paid a little extra for a glass of wine and a bottle of Deschutes Black Butte Porter Ale (link is for Kristina), but it was so good. It was a bargain!
