Apple Crunch

This is one of the best apple crisp/crunch recipes I have found. For two reasons, you make a vanilla/caramel sauce that just oozes when it's done. Second, it's beyond easy.

Apple Crisp

1 c chopped apples (approx. four apples)
1 c flour
3/4 c oatmeal
1 c brown sugar
1/2 c melted butter
1 tsp cinnamon

Sauce
1 c white sugar
2 T cornstarch
1 c water
1 tsp vanilla

Cook sauce ingredients over medium to low heat until thick. Stir constantly.
Remove from heat and set aside.

Mix dry ingredients with butter until crumbly. Press 1/2 of crumble mixture into a 9 x 9 greased baking pan. Cover with apples. Pour vanilla sauce over apples. Top with remaining oatmeal mixture. Bake at 350 degrees for one hour. Of course, you will want to serve this with vanilla ice cream.

It was good. But the next day, it was very difficult to get the leftovers out of the pan.

I agree. You really need to super grease the pan, but a nonstick pan works great.
