I know, I am on a huge virtual school kick right now. Please know it is pure panic for us. We have loved our virtual school system we have worked hard for in the year prior to this school year, we have loved watching JM's success, we have loved the academic standards of this program, and we have loved the process. Having our virtual school threatened to be shut down by the end of the 2010 school year is frightening to us, and a lot of people.
Here is a link to an OP/ED in our local, non liberal, publication. Click here. You might remember Rob Kremer, there is a photograph of him below. If you want to see what kind of waste Oregon has in it's public school system, he spells it out pretty clearly. His first naysayer in the comments got shut down pretty fast when told those numbers were facts and where to find them.
As you look at the huge amount of money being thrown at public schools while reading this, please remember, Oregon ranks in the 40's for public schools. That 40-ish rating is based upon standardized testing, drop out rate, delinquency, college applications and acceptances, reading level, etc.
I like his fiscal thinking.
