And I Went to Compare....

Click here to see Calvert's online catalogue of their second grade comprehensive curriculum. Use the little zoom feature at the bottom to look really closely.

And then look at this picture. I pulled out a bunch of our books, and lined them up.

What difference do you see? None hardly at all. Maybe in the spelling and handwriting books. But there is one glaring difference.

$755.00 in basic tuition and an enrollment fee.

Sorry! Should have warned you.....sarcasm alert!

The cost is exactly why I chose not to use Calvert. There are so many good curriculums out there that don't cost as much.

I know it's expensive. But it was comforting knowing that part of that education tax dollar I pay was paying for this. AND, it was costing the state to purchase such a high end curriculum several thousand ($10,000 vs $4,000) dollars less to purchase a pricey curriculum for me that to educate a kid in a regular public school classroom. Bottom line, the state even saves money using a high end curriculum. Now, I get to pay the taxes anyway AND buy the curriculum. Yay me!

I too have been following the developments regarding ORCA because we have greatly benefitted from it as well. Appreciate your thoughts and hoping for the best in Salem.
