The Gloves Are Slowly Coming Off

My online ORCA parents group got the cold hard truth this morning. State Senate Bill 767. Click here to read it.

It succinctly limits online virtual schooling so much it would be impossible for a charter to exist as a virtual school. It puts the lid on the coffin, nails it down, straps it up with duct tape, and then drills 6 inch lag bolts into virtual schooling now and in the future for Oregon. Why? So that the only schooling available to Oregon's children are bricks and mortar public schools. It is a monopoly on school choices as well as tax dollars appointed for education. Nice huh?

I read this earlier today, and came home to--count 'em--ninety infuriated emails from parents. Up until now everyone has been upset and writing letters. Now everyone is seeing red and infuriated.

Folks, I rarely ask for much action on my blog. Honestly, if you are an Oregonian, I would ask that you please grab a few of the links I am about to post and just write letters and emails to your state law makers asking for them to support virtual schools. For my traditional homeschooling friends, I am so afraid you're next. Please send your letters and, if need be, I will absolutely send letters when the ODE takes on abolishing traditional homeschoolers, and that would be next.

Contact information for the governor of Oregon is here.

Click here to see the letter of support from several key law makers in support of ORCA's perpetuous charter. It gives me hope.

I will let you know how things go at our rally on Monday! We need God's intervention. We are a small group up against Goliath.
