More updates...

Check my blog for October 8th. I told my opinion about an adoption case here in Oregon over a fourth month old foster kid who was about to be adopted. Click here for an update.

It has become heated! Ironically right after that I met someone who works for the state who made her opinion very well known that she supports the state. Huh? She did tell me though, that the paternal grandmother has procured an attorney and had rights. I told her, with all due respect, no she doesn't. This child is an American citizen. The governor of our state was asked his opinion yesterday, and made it clear, as a person (not governor) "he's an American." One of the few things I agree with the governor on.

Recently, the birthfather has stated that he believes the child should stay here and is in a good place. So that is the problem? Seriously!

The paternal grandmother! She has said that she wants another chance to raise children, etc. She is the thorn in the side right now. Keep in mind, she doesn't have parental rights, the father does, and he is willing to sign them away. It's so strange.

What is cool....a judge today said the child is staying put until this is all sorted out. That was a fear because the state could have shown up to the soon-to-be-adoptive parents home and taken him away.

Another cool thing, the governor has asked the state's attorney if he has any jurisdiction to make any power plays on this issue. Wise move! I think if the governor has a say, we'll find this kid staying here. He has made it clear his opinion.

Again, kudos to this adoptive family! They are fighting for their family and children, and I have always said, sometimes you have to do this in adoption. Give them a medal!
